Ever run into the “I don’t have an outfit and the photoshoot starts in 15 minutes problem?” As a photographer I can give you the top five outfit choices that look great for all photos, and won’t clash with the vibrant Autumn colors!

Flannel– This is the first obvious way to go because you are able to dress flannels up or down! Making them an incredibly versatile addition to your wardrobe, this also works great for kids! Additionally, layering under a flannel jacket can enhance the aesthetic while providing extra warmth during cooler months. Note– Don’t wear skin colored shirts layered under flannel. It does not always appear flattering, and I want to set you up for success! Aim for darker browns, blacks, whites, or reds.

Cowgirl style -What do I mean by this? Well… fall is a great time to pull out the boots! Whether it’s cowgirl boots, dressy black boots, or Uggs (my personal favorite). There are so many options to choose from that can express your unique style. You can pair them with cozy sweaters, flannels, or even a stylish hat to create a laid-back yet fashionable vibe. The beauty of fall fashion is in its versatility; you can dress up or down depending on the occasion.

Skirts– Preferably ankle length skirts, because you want to be warm when you are walking outside, or dresses layered with a jean jacket or flannel. I really like the leather or denim skirt look with a flannel jacket. It creates a dressy, but cozy and comfortable look. Also from a photographers stand point the skirts look artistic when you capture them moving as the subject walks.

Denim– Personally I wear a lot of denim, and I like it for two reasons. Number one it keeps me warm. Number two it looks dressy and fashionable without having to try to hard. This would be easy go to outfit because all you need is jeans and a jean jacket!

Note From the Author…
Every photo shoot is a chance to get better at your craft; be confident in your abilities! This photo shoot was a blast, but one thing I had to learn was to keep my shutter speed a little higher. #1-Because it was overcast outside, and their faces and the scenerey needed to be brighter. #2- The subjects were almost always in motion, so I needed to keep motion blur out of the picture.
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
