Want to capture the glowing light of your Christmas tree during the holidays, but are wondering how to photograph them and where to start? Here are 3 easy steps to guarantee your success in capturing the magical glow of Christmas!

#1- Get Rid Of Other Competing Lights.
Switch of lamps and overhead lights, so they don’t compete with and dampen the glow of the twinkling tree lights. Lower your shutter speed, because that allows more time for the camera to let in the glow of the lights.Turn your aperture way down, and bump your ISO up a because you are shooting in a darker environment. Note– But if you are photographing people have your shutter speed higher, and just bump your ISO up a little more.

#2-Place subjects Close to the tree.
If you are shooting in an environment with no other lights but the tree. Than have the clients face the tree, and look at a bulb or look at each other smiling; that way their faces have a nice glow.

#3- Expose for the skin.
You should be posing your subjects in a way that brightens their faces and is mostly even light. Yes… your clients want the tree in the back round, but they will be more unhappy if their faces are in uneven light, and are full of shadows.
